Hola!

Hola!

So I am really here! I want to begin by thanking everyone for the prayers that you are sending my way...They have been working well!

I have so much to say and so little time.

Let's start at the beginning. My flight here was great. I made friends on the plane from B'ham to Houston and I feel that God put them next to me for a reason. They prayed for my travels on the plane and talking with Amanda and Gladys helped the flight go by so quickly. Gladys owns her own Christian Day Care. She has about 9 kids that she takes care of by herself from 6:30 in the morning until about 5:30 at night. Her daughter Amanda is in middle school.

After arriving in Houston I started to feel quite sick. The fact that the plane was very small and encountered a lot of turbulance did not help. Also, I think that I was really nervous and it was making me feel sick.

Upon arrival I was picked up by Enrique, a banker who helps taxi don Quijote students to and from the airport. He picked up me and Theresa (a Chicago social worker). He was super nice and we had a simple conversation in Spanish. He told me after dropping Theresa off that my host family is fabulous and that Marta, my host mom has students return to her year after year.Marta basically runs a bed and breakfast. She even has wireless internet which was an awesome surprise. Brian has dowloaded skype so we have the capability to talk to each other for FREE!

Upon arrival I met 3 other students who live at the casa. They are actually my housemates. There are in total 6 students staying with Marta. They all speak English and a higher level of Spanish than I do. So, they gave me the grand tour and explained to me things such as not to put toilet paper in the toilet. They then took me into town to acquaint me with the city. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I must cut this short in order to find my way back to the escuala. I have a grand tour at 1:15 and I need extra time because I will most likely get lost. I will put pictures on this site later :)

Love, Katie
